How the Formwork Tie Rod System Works

The Formwork Tie Rod System acts as the crucial "muscle" holding your concrete forms together. The high-tensile, threaded Dywidag Bar passes through the center of the wall formwork. On both exterior sides, Wing Nuts or a Concrete Anchor Nut are tightened against the steel walers.

This creates immense tension, securely holding the two Steel Formwork Panels in place against the massive outward pressure exerted by pouring wet concrete. For watertight structures like tanks, a Water Stopper is cast directly into the wall along the rod path.

FAQ: Tie Rod System

Q: Are your tie rods weldable?

A: It depends on the steel grade. Our standard Q235 tie rods are weldable. However, high-strength 45# steel (C45) bars are heat-treated and not recommended for welding.

Q: What finishes are available?

A: We offer Self Color (Black), Electro Galvanized, and Hot Dip Galvanized (HDG). For casting wing nuts, we recommend galvanizing for better rust resistance.

Q: Wing Nut Breaking Load?

A: Our standard Ductile Iron Wing Nut has a minimum breaking load of 180KN - 190KN, perfectly matching the tensile strength of our D15/17 Tie Rod and Wing Nut systems.

Q: Max Length & Cutting?

A: Standard length for tie rods is 6 meters. We provide free cutting service to customized lengths (e.g., 1.0m, 3.0m) to save labor cost at your site.

Q: Can I get free samples?
